Review: Nanshy Foundation Brush Collection

As anyone that has been reading my blog for a little while knows, I've been dying to get hold of the Real Techniques Core Collection because as it stands, I apply all my foundation and concealer with my fingers. Obviously this isn't ideal! Luckily new company Nanshy gave me the opportunity to try out their Foundation Brush Collection - £29.95*

The set contains four brushes, a Flat Top Buffer Brush, a Pointed Foundation Brush, a Flat Angled Buffer Brush and a Round Buffer Brush. They're currently only available to purchase through BeautyStore4U which is my set were sent from, or through Amazon. They're also available separately. All of the brushes have chunky white handles which are very light. I'm not sure what they're made of as there was very little information included in my package! I actually had to go on the website to double check the names of each brush. There was nothing about how to use them or what kind of products they can be used with. Luckily there is some information on the website and I've picked up a few tips from youtube videos and other bloggers, but I would be absolutely stumped looking at these if I'd been given them a year ago. The ferrules are nice and secure and the synthetic, cruelty-free bristles are soft, densely packed and beautifully shaped. They're gorgeous to look at but I just know that the white handles are going to get dirty very quickly!

Flat Top Buffer Brush
This is a dense kabuki brush which I used to dab on and blend in my liquid foundation. I loved the effect this gave me, it was much smoother and lighter looking than my usual method. The bristles felt very soft on my face and it was easy to use. It was a nice size for covering large areas at once. I did experience some minimal shedding, I lost about 3 hairs.. My foundation looked very smooth and I found that my dry patches were less noticeable! Bonus.

Pointed Foundation Brush
This is possibly my favourite of the bunch. I used this to blend in my under-eye concealer and blend my foundation in around my nose and mouth. It's a perfect size and shape to get into all the little niggly places. I think this is going to quickly become a daily-use item for me! I love it. I didn't experience any shedding with it and the bristles felt lovely, even around my delicate eye area.

Flat Angled Buffer Brush
I think this is going to absolutely perfect for contouring but I don't have a bronzer at the moment so I used this to apply my pressed powder. It did a fantastic job buffing in my powder and the shape really helped me work around the contours of my face. I particularly enjoyed using it on my jawline and cheek bones. Again there was no shedding and it felt super soft and lovely!

Round Buffer Brush
Another of my favourites. This would actually have a multitude of uses, it's a great size to fit in the hollow of my cheeks but I actually used it to apply a cream blush and it was an absolute dream! There was very little product waste and I could create a very subtle, warm glow by blending out the product with this. It was beautiful. I love this as a blush brush. As before, no shedding, lovely soft bristles.

The only thing I would have liked to have included is a little more information on how to use the products and perhaps a holder/case. There is one available here but for £19.95 I don't think I'll be grabbing my purse any time soon. I think the price for these brushes are fantastic and I would recommend them to anybody shopping for a nice collection of base brushes.

And now for the piece de resistance, I'm going to show you a before and after. I'm extremely nervous about this as I'm not totally in love with my face (it's very lumpy and strange) but I really wanted to show off how well these worked with my base products. Prepare for gratuitous bare skin and massive faces:

 Before
After

Of course this is with absolutely no editing and in natural daylight (and yes I am wearing a purple fleecy robe, don't judge.) I don't need to tell you what a transformation this is! This is using all my Nanshy brushes, my base products show here and Maybelline Dream Touch Blush in Berry. I love how my skin looks after using these products. Lovely clear skin makes me feel so beautiful and confident.

I hope you liked these and can accept my deepest apologies for the skin. Overall, I think this collection is fantastic. It's revolutionised the way I apply my base products and I'll never go back! Other than the Real Techniques Core Collection (I know, I know, we all love it!) which brushes do you use?

  1. These look amazing. I always use my fingers to apply my makeup, too. I got some brushes for Crimbo, so i'm hoping to try those out soon!

I love your make-up here, so natural. I can't stand when girls have like ten layers on. You look gorgeous, hun :)

These look like lovely brushes, but I'd be totally lost as to what to do with them too haha.
I use the Real Techniques Expert Face and Powder brushes, and an ELF Studio blusher brush. Works for me!

    1. Thank you! Absolutely, I use the body shop lightening touch concealer in 01 but any highlighting concealer will do. Try to pick one that's slightly yellow toned as it'll help cancel out the shady blue/purple tones that you get under your eyes :)x
